Apple Bread

With all the talk of Apples and Apple Festivals going on I had to pull out one of my favorite recipes for Apple Bread to share.

Apple Bread

1/2 cup Butter or Margarine
1 cup Sugar
2 eggs – beaten
2 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 3/4 cup diced apples
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp. Milk
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Thoroughly cream shortening & sugar. Add eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Blend milk and remaining ingredients and add to mixture. Mix well. Pour into 1 long or 2 small loaf pans.

Topping

2 Tbsp flour
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbsp butter

Combine and crumble over the top of the batter.

Bake 325 for 1 hour

    Rebecca, I am really looking forward to trying this recipe. So many of the Apple Bread recipes especially quick breads or muffins call for “oil” rather than “butter” or “margarine” so I will give this a try in my next batch of breads! It looks yummy!

    Rebecca,I too am looking forward to trying this recipe! Our apple trees are finally done and we had a freeze the other night that froze the last few remaining apples. Now time to do something with the crop the Lord has blessed us with this year.
